The Czech government asked deputies to extend the emergency regime for the maximum period possible by law - for another 30 days, but legislators supported the extension for 22 days.

In the Czech Republic, the government has the right to independently introduce an emergency regime for up to 30 days, which was done on October 5 due to a sharp increase in the incidence of COVID-19. The emergency regime can be extended only with the consent of the lower house of parliament. In the first extension, parliamentarians agreed to an additional 17 days.
