A passenger plane collapsed near Havana

On Friday, almost immediately after the take-off from the Jose Marti international airport, a passenger Boeing-737 crashed in Cuba, flying Havana-Holguin.

The plane caught fire and collapsed on farmland 18 kilometers from the capital of Cuba, Havana. On board the aircraft were 110 people - 104 passengers and 6 crew members. Passengers are mainly Cubans, five foreigners. The crew of the plane was from Mexico. After 12 minutes, rescuers arrived at the crash site. However, most of those who flew died. Miraculously after the fall and the fire, four of them were able to survive, one of whom died on the way to the hospital. Three rescued in extremely difficult condition were hospitalized in the capital hospital named after Calixto Garcia. They have multiple hematomas, fractures, burns. The country is declared mourning.

According to preliminary data, Russians were not on board. There is a search for black boxes.

Eyewitnesses say that the plane tried to return to the airport immediately after take-off, but touched the power line. Since 1999, this is the first catastrophe on the account of the company Cubana de Aviacion, which rented a board with a 26-year history from the Mexican company Global Air.

Condolences in connection with the tragedy were expressed by Russia, Venezuela, Mexico, Spain, France, Boeing Company. The company is ready to provide any necessary technical assistance.

Currently, the airport Jose Marti is working in normal mode.
