Moscow's Tagansky court upheld the suit of Roskomnadzor and decided to block the Telegram messenger in Russia.

The court allowed to begin the blockage immediately - before the decision on the suit entered into legal force.

Representatives of Telegram were not present at the court session on April 13 - the messenger's creator Pavel Durov earlier refused to participate in the trial, calling him a frank farce. The lawyers sent a petition to the court asking them to postpone the meeting, but it was rejected.

Consideration of the claim essentially took 20 minutes, after which the judge within 40 minutes prepared a decision in the advisory room.

Earlier, on April 6, Roskomnadzor asked the Tagansky court to block Telegram for refusing the company to transfer the encryption keys to the FSB, so that the special service could read the correspondence of users. Telegram stated that it is technically impossible to do this. On April 12, Roskomnadzor asked the court to immediately block Telegram in Russia if the suit about its blockage was met.
