American scientists from Kansas University found that, contrary to popular belief, social Internet networks do not affect the normal communication between people and do not alienate a person from friends and family. The results of the research are published in the scientific journal Information, Communication & Society. Scientists have conducted two experiments. First, they analyzed data on the behavior of young people in 2009 and 2011. It turned out that the development of social networks, which occurred between the two measurements, did not affect the amount of time that young people spent on live communication. The second experiment was conducted in 2015.

It was selected 116 people, half of the group were students, and half - already graduated from the university. They were constantly asked about the everyday communication and use of social networks. It turned out that correspondence in social networks had no effect on people's contacts, their communication with friends and family.
