To this conclusion came the cardiologists of the Southwest Medical Center of the University of Texas. This is reported in a press release posted on the website MedicalXpress. The study involved more than 50 middle-aged people. The volunteers were divided into groups, in one of which people engaged in active physical exercises for two years, and in the other - yoga. In this exercise, which was conducted 4-5 times a week, lasted for 30 minutes, except for the hour sessions, when the subjects paid time to walk, aerobics, cycling or tennis. Exercise of moderate intensity was performed during the first three months, and after 10 months - high.

It turned out that people in the first group improved their oxygen consumption during physical exertion by 18 percent, and the elasticity of the muscles of the left ventricle of the heart increased by 25 percent. According to the recommendations of the researchers, in order to obtain maximum benefit, it is necessary to start regular physical exercises up to the age of 65. Sedentary lifestyle, on the contrary, contributes to the rigidity of the heart muscle, which leads to hypertension and poor blood supply.
