The State Migration Service of Ukraine has no documented grounds for depriving the former prosecutor Natalia Poklonska of citizenship. This was reported by Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergey Leshchenko on the news channel NewsOne. The parliamentarian said that an official letter from the HMS came to him on the deputy post on his request regarding the deprivation of citizenship of Poklonskaya. At the same time, Leshchenko noted that Poklonskaya could not have been elected as a State Duma deputy without a Russian passport. "And they do not have data in the SIS that she violated the law on citizenship of Ukraine on dual citizenship," said Sergei Leshchenko. Natalia Poklonskaya worked in the prosecutor's offices of Ukraine from 2002 to 2014.

After the change of power in Kiev in February 2014, she moved to the Crimea, where she headed the prosecutor's office. In 2016 she was elected to the State Duma. In October 2017, the Russian parliament denied the presence of Natalia Poklonskaya Ukrainian passport. "In accordance with Russian legislation, a State Duma deputy can not have dual citizenship," said the head of the United Russia faction Sergei Neverov.
