The new Russian long-range radar detection A-100 "Premier" made its first flight. This was told Interfax in the press service of the Vega concern. The flight took place on Saturday, November 18. Deliveries of the new machine to the troops should begin in the first quarter of 2019, reported in June this year, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov. According to him, equipment for the new complex was previously tested on board the flying laboratory A-100LL. The prototype of the aircraft took off for the first time in October 2016.

A-100 "Premier" is a project of a new long-range radar detection and guidance aircraft ("flying radar") based on the Il-76MD-90A, which will gradually replace the existing aircraft of this designation (A-50 and A-50U). Multifunctional on-board radio engineering complex for the aircraft was created by the radio engineering concern Vega (now part of the United Instrument-Making Corporation) under a contract with the Defense Ministry from 2013.

The original "flying radar" A-100 for the first time took off.
