Former vice-president of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Julio Grondona received a million dollars for his vote in favor of Qatar in the election of the host country of the World Cup-2022. This is reported by the portal Inside the Games. Corresponding testimony to the court of New York was given by the former head of the Argentine company Torneos y Competencias Alejandro Bursako. In addition to the now deceased Grondona, the members of the FIFA executive committee, Nicolos Leosa of Paraguay and the Brazilian Ricardo Teixeira, were accused of bribery.

Bursako also said that Fox Sports, Mexico Grupo Televisa and the Brazilian Globo gave bribes for the rights to show the World Cup. Julio Grondona for 36 years, led the Association of Football of Argentina. He died in 2014. The elections of the countries-organizers of the World Championship-2022 were held in 2010. The victory was won by Qatar. Competitions for the first time in history will be held in the winter (from November 21 to December 18) due to too hot weather in Qatar in the summer.
