The Seven Ambassadors welcomed the adoption in the first reading of the Draft Electoral Code. Ambassadors of the G7 countries called on Ukraine to update the composition of the Central Election Commission in 2017 by appointing members of the department to the 13 posts that have expired. "This will create a politically balanced electoral commission with powerful long-term powers, work with the support of a modernized mechanism for organizing the electoral process," the statement said..

Eurodiplomats also noted that it is time for an electoral reform to ensure at least a year for its implementation before the 2019 elections.
