Extremally high temperatures were recorded in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Switzerland.
In Italy recorded 50 degrees of heat. In Italy came anti-cyclone Charon from Africa. In the east of Romania, including in the capital of the country recorded 45 degrees of heat. Heat caused fires in Serbia. In Sofia, five people became victims of the heat. The government of Bulgaria also decided to raise the level of danger to red. More than a hundred people have already applied for medical help.
Orange danger level is announced in Greece, Macedonia, Spain and France. There, the temperature has not fallen below 40 degrees for several days already.
EU citizens do not just suffer from heat. Dozens of people go to hospitals with heat shocks. The human body is unable to withstand too high temperatures. It is already known that two people were killed in Poland, Romania - already 13. Dozens of people were hospitalized.
The government of Bulgaria and Romania banned the movement of large-capacity vehicles, because the asphalt melts. The mayor of Rome, Virginia Raja, signed a decree restricting the flow of water to wash the vehicles, watering the gardens and filling the pools. Rome is experiencing an acute shortage of water. The heat hosts in 26 Italian cities, including Rome, Milan, Bari and the island of Sardinia.
Because of the heat in Spain, the Valdemoro authorities evacuated the children into the morgue building - it's cooler there.
The forecasters promise to lower the air temperature only in the second half of August.
