On the coast of Guatemat under the sea bottom there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8.
This was reported by the US Geological Survey.
The epicenter of the earthquake is fixed at 38 km from the village of Puerto San Jose.
It is noted that the focus was at a depth of 10 km.
In addition, the tremors were felt in the eponymous capital of Guatemala, as well as in neighboring El Salvador.

The destruction and casualties in El Salvador have not yet officially been reported.
