Middle East stumbling block. Incidents will continue

I think that the issue of the termination of cooperation on the air line with the United States and the Russian Federation was already brewing, since they repeatedly had disagreements over the issue of airspace over Syria.

But the fact is that you need to pay attention to where this episode occurred. It occurred not far from Rakka - the capital of the virtually unrecognized "Islamic state". And for more than one week the offensive against the Allied troops has continued.

In fact, Rakka is the sphere of political influence of the United States, the sphere of influence of the opposition in Syria, but not the government of the troops of Assad. Therefore, a broken plane was a preventive measure against Asad troops and its allies. That both Russia and everyone else perfectly understand that Rakka will be the sphere of influence of the opposition forces to Assad and, of course, the allies of the United States and other countries.

But to say that this incident will lead to an aggravation of relations between Russia and the United States is not worth it. In any case, the parties are interested in continuing the dialogue and partial stabilization of the situation in Syria and in the Middle East in general. But here President Asad will remain the stumbling block. And for Trump personally, and all their allies in principle, that Bashar Assad left. For Russia it is important that it remains.

Until Assad's future is decided, various incidents, downed planes, misunderstandings, various inconsistencies between the United States and the Russian Federation during the Syrian crisis will continue.

(Will not it affect the rest of the foreign policy issues?) In connection with Ukraine, there is no. Since recently, as is known, a possible plan of regulating relations with the Russian Federation was published with the publication of BuzzFeed. We do not have any confirmation now - the real plan or not. But the published plan for the normalization of relations with the Russian Federation involves cooperation with it on various issues, primarily Afghanistan, Syria, mainly the Middle East. There the theme of Ukraine does not appear.

This does not mean that the theme of Ukraine is in the periphery. Simply it will not be bundled into one package with the Middle East. This is a separate point and a stumbling block between the US and Russia, and they will discuss the Ukrainian issues separately, but not in the Middle East.
