The protests in Russia on June 12 demonstrated the difficult underlying processes taking place in the Russian society: on the one hand, the majority of protesters are still happy about Krymnasch, on the other, they begin to realize that "Russia is going to the global periphery".
This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the Russian political scientist Dmitry Oreshkin.
In his opinion, protests in many respects are due to the president of Russia Putin. "How much can people fool people's heads?. People are not idiots. They understand that prices are rising and salaries are falling. Until recently we were a respected country, and now our friend is Iran ".
At the same time, Russians are beginning to realize that "Russia is going to the global periphery - by the joint efforts of Putin, Shoigu and other figures".
At the same time, there is a "cognitive dissonance": "Many people who were at this meeting, just as happy that" our Crimea "that" we rise from our knees ".
Theoretically, they still think that enemies are around, and we are growing stronger. But in practice they understand that everything is wrong. They experience this cognitive dissonance, and with this dissonance go to protests, "- said Oreshkin.
