The European Parliament on June 15 deprived the parliamentary immunity of the leader of the French ultra-right party "National Front" Marin Le Pen.
This is reported by Le Figaro, reports "European truth".
Thus, the European Parliament granted the request of the French justice, which required to remove from Le Pen deputy immunity in the case of defamation of the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi. In May 2015, Le Pen accused the mayor of Nice in financing Islamist organizations.
It is noted that Le Pen herself was not present at the vote, as she is now participating in the electoral campaign of the second round of parliamentary elections in France, which will be held on June 18.
As the newspaper notes, the decision of the European Parliament has nothing to do with another request of the French justice to deprive Le Pen of immunity in connection with the fictitious employment of the assistants of the "National Front". This request is now being examined in accordance with the procedure.
Recall that the French investigators who are investigating the misuse of funds by the EU presidential candidate from the ultra-right of Marin Le Pen sent a request with a request to remove her immunity from her in April, as well as another representative of the "National Front" in the European Parliament - Marie -Kristin Butonne.
The European Parliament began consideration of this issue on April 26.
