On Sunday, June 11, the first round of parliamentary elections began in France.
This is reported by Deutsche Welle.
According to opinion polls, for the party "Forward!" The new president Emmanuel Macron and her allies are ready to vote about 30 percent of the 47 million French voters, which will ensure that his supporters have an absolute majority in the National Assembly. Sociologists also predict a sharp reduction in the mandates of the Socialist Party of former President Francois Hollande, as well as the right-wing "Republicans".
At the same time, the "National Front" of the right populist Marin Le Pen, whose representatives now occupy only two seats in parliament, can significantly strengthen their positions.
Note that the French electoral system involves voting in 577 single-mandate constituencies in two rounds. To ensure his place in parliament already in the first round of elections, a candidate in his constituency needs to collect more than half of the votes. If none of these fail, June 18 will be the second round of voting. In the lower house of parliament - the National Assembly - will pass the candidate who received the majority of votes.
The polling stations are open from 8:00 to 18:00 local time (9:00 - 19:00 Kyiv time. - Red. In large cities, particularly Paris, Marseilles, Lyon, Bordeaux and Toulouse, they close two hours later.
As reported by the "Observer", on May 14, Macron officially took office as President of France.
