The closest advisers to British Prime Minister Theresa May resigned after the elections, at which the conservatives lost their majority.

This is reported by "Ukrainian Truth" with reference to The Guardian.

Nick Timothy, Advisor to May, announced his resignation by letter, which was posted on the website of the Conservative Party.

"Yesterday I resigned as prime minister's adviser. It is clear that the overall result of the elections is a huge disappointment. I take responsibility for my part in this election campaign, "he wrote..

A representative of the Conservatives also confirmed the resignation of Fiona Hill.

"I was very pleased to work in the government, and it's nice to work with such a wonderful prime minister. I have no doubt that Teresa? ? May will continue to strongly serve and work as prime minister - and will do so with brilliance, "said Hill.

It is reported that Timothy and Hill faced sharp criticism for their role in the campaign and managing the May office. Senior members of the Prime Minister's team said that they must leave their posts.

"There were signals that May could face the leadership problem on Monday, if these two did not resign. Deputies say that the resignation of Timothy and Hill - was the only way for May to resist, especially when still ready to remain such figures as Boris Johnson, "- said the publication.

As reported by the "Observer", earlier in Britain they announced their readiness to create a new government.
