Russian propaganda is increasingly launching its fakes through the world's social networks, after which they are picked up by the media controlled by the Kremlin, and already through them untrue news is increasingly replicated even by the American media.
This writes the New York Times, reports ZN. Ua.
Thus, the experts of the Atlantic Council managed to get to the root of one of these fakes about the alleged "might" of the Russian army, whose plane in the Black Sea was neutralized by the US destroyer Donald Cook,.
Like most fake stories, this "news" had in itself the beginning of truth.
This is an incident that occurred on April 12, 2014, when the Russian aircraft really approached the American vessel intolerably close, after which the Pentagon issued a statement.
But in April, three years after the events, the story reappeared on the Russian state television, although the truth is completely distorted.
In the story about the events, according to Russia, it was said that the Russian aircraft allegedly used "electronic weapons" and put out of action all systems on the destroyer's bog "Donald Cook".
It was a fake, but it spread very quickly even with global sentiments to fight counterfeits.
Propaganda fiction spread gradually over three years. So, a few days after the incident, the Russian writer Dmitry Sedov wrote a satirical work in which he led the story allegedly on behalf of the member of the crew of "Donald Cook".
In the story he described a fantastic episode of the electronic war, which caused a shock and panic in the lyrical hero. Subsequently, this his bike spread to Facebook in English and Russian as a letter of an American soldier.
Experts Atlantic Council found posts with fake thanks to specific technical words. The authors note that Facebook helps propagandists spread fake "news".
After that, the company's spokesman said that the social network is trying to fight the spread of disinformation, but on April 15, 2017 in the Russian program "Vesti" was literally quoted a satirical fable written by Sedov.
This day was chosen for a reason. After April 15 in Russia celebrate the Day of the specialist of electronic warfare of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. And since this story appeared on the central television channel, news sites around the world began to quote it.
On April 19, British tabloids The Sun and The Daily Star wrote about Russian invention, noting that this is a "strange propaganda report" from Russia. However, this did not end there. The Sun reprinted FoxNews website. Com. The director of the news site explained that this story was seen as an example of how Russia "exaggerates its military power".
But in the title of this nothing was said. In the end, FoxNews. Com removed fake news from the site.
But this does not mean anything, because hundreds of thousands of users on social networks, as well as alternative news sites, especially those that support anti-American and anti-globalization narrative, have already shared it.
Recall earlier published a selection of top fake propaganda of the Kremlin.
