To date, Alexei Navalny became the leader of the protest movement in Russia, and only on it depends on whether he can cope with this super-goal.
This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the Russian journalist, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Journal, one of the co-founders of the United Civil Front, one of the leaders of the Solidarity movement, Alexander Ryklin.
Answering the question whether there is a person in Russia who can become a leader of the protest movement, Ryklin said: "In my opinion, Navalny has already become their factual partner. The only question is how he will cope with this role ".
The "observer" asked to name the strengths and weaknesses of this politician. "Error it or not, it will be clear with time. It seems to me that he plays completely in an individual game. He chose this format. He is not looking for peers in scale and in the caliber of allies. This is not bad and not good, but, in my opinion, this is inefficient, it is counterproductive, "- answered the journalist.
At the same time, he remarked: "Perhaps I am mistaken. In history, there are cases when a person who says: "I'm here alone, and no one around me is needed, except those who have my salary," wins. It happens. But it seems to me that in Russia, given our realities, this is a mistake ".
Speaking about the strengths of Navalny, Ryklin said: "He, of course, is very charismatic, and the organizer is good".
"But the main thing is that he, I think, realized that, unfortunately, there is no other format than that which he begins to push forward. I mean March 26. In Russia today there is no other way, except from the street, "- said the oppositionist.
Responding to the replica of the "Observer" about how to change power in the country by holding protests coordinated with the authorities, Ryklin said:
"This is a difficult question, because it is never known what the protest will result in. Here comes a concerted action of a million people, and who knows what it will become in 2 hours after the start. This is all very conditional ".
As the "Observer" wrote, June 12 in Moscow will host a protest action, an application for which was filed by the team of Alexei Navalny. Authorities allowed the protesters to gather on Sakharov Avenue in the Russian capital.
