Countries in the CIS should use a single Cyrillic font.
The corresponding proposal was put forward by the Minister of Education and Science of Russia Olga Vasilyeva, RIA Novosti reports..
It should be noted that after the collapse of the USSR, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are gradually moving from Cyrillic to Latin. Such an initiative is included in the plans of Kazakhstan, which intends to completely replace the Cyrillic script with the Latin alphabet from 2025.
"The last ten years has been a very big topic: romanization and arabization of fonts.
Right now we have to return to a single font in the CIS spaces - this is a Cyrillic script, because, as the polls show, our population, the nearest abroad, still speaks of the attachment and the need for a Cyrillic font, "said Vasilieva.
The Russian official is convinced that the Russian Federation is obligated to promote the realization of this goal in every possible way.
As reported by the "Observer", previously People's Deputy ("People's Front") Viktor Yelensky assured that the Verkhovna Rada there is no bill that provides for Ukraine's transition to the Latin alphabet.
