Poland from January 1, 2018 will replace Ukraine among non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. The UN General Assembly voted for the new non-permanent members of the Security Council, who will perform their duties for two years. This is reported by the UN News Center. According to the results of the voting, places in the Security Council will be occupied by Cote d'Ivoire, Kuwait, Poland, Peru and Equatorial Guinea. Also, by preliminary agreement with Italy, the new membership of the Security Council includes the Netherlands, who previously shared a two-year term with Italy. As is known, Britain, China, Russia, the United States and France are permanent members of the Security Council. The remaining ten are re-elected every two years on the basis of the principle of regional rotation.
