Why are there so many young widows in the cemeteries?

Because over the past 20 years, two large and a dozen small wars have been around the world. And everywhere the Americans took part. And the war is not the old, but the young. That's.

The total number of dead in Iraq is 442 people and 32 thousand wounded. In Afghanistan, 2,386 dead and 20,049 wounded. Of this number in Afghanistan, 1,834 killed by the enemy, and the remaining accidents and death from their own.

Add to this, that in Afghanistan killed 1,173 American mercenaries who were guarding private companies or cargo flows. Almost 3,500 American mercenaries were killed in Iraq.

Many of them had families, children, extensive family ties. Because the graves are visited regularly. But even if nobody goes to the grave, the military cemetery itself monitors monuments, puts flowers and sticks American flags for all holidays. And this is not one cemetery and dozens across the country.

About the Day of Remembrance, many are strongly and often told all around - this is not one more day off for kebabs. This is the day of remembrance of those who are not and who gave their lives for the country, ideals, family, freedom. And Americans often celebrate on the graves of this day, just as they did in the USSR. Combat comrades bring a bottle of vodka / whiskey / cognac and grab at a grave for someone's memory, pouring always one glass on the grass above the grave.

Women bring the children of dead fathers to the grave. And that's right - the children should know that their father did not abandon them, and did not forget, and did not run away somewhere.

Finally, many people begin to believe that the dead hear them and therefore, strangely and touchingly, but they lead some monologues on the graves, tell stories, laugh and share their impressions.

And mostly real veterans - they are silent. Without enumeration of exploits, without discussion of military operations, without pathos and without kicha.
