President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on holding the Decade of Childhood in Russia.

The corresponding document was published by the Russian official "Portal of Legal Information".

According to the decree, the decade of childhood will be held from 2018 to 2027 and will be the continuation of the five-year program for the implementation of the national strategy for children. The Government of the Russian Federation is also instructed, within a three-month period, to prepare an action plan for the Decade of Childhood for the next two years.

Internet users have reacted quickly to the desire of the President of the Russian Federation to "make children happy". In social networks they ridicule the initiative of the Kremlin, recalling the resonant detention of a 10-year-old child by the Moscow police.

As reported by the "Observer", on May 26 Moscow police detained a child who read poetry on the square. The actions of law enforcers caused a lot of criticism among Russians.
