To maintain the post and increase support in society, US President Donald Trump is ready under certain conditions to take tough measures against Russia.

"To keep the post, Donald Trump needs to show that he is stronger than the previous administration. In his rhetoric, he uses the following narrative: the crisis in Europe because of Russia's aggression in Ukraine became possible because of the weak position of Barack Obama. To convince his constituents that he is a really strong president, Trump can take tough measures. It is clear that we are not talking about what we saw in Syria and Afghanistan (a missile attack and dropping the "mother of all bombs").

But I do not exclude that in the case of Putin's intransigence Trump can go on a serious expansion of sanctions. Up to the point that he will raise the issue of the embargo on the supply of Russian energy, "the diplomat said..
