Kirill Serebrennikov is the first time when they came for the creative intelligentsia.
Literally after the creation of the Russian Art Union, which declared a crusade against liberal culture.
Cyril heads the state institution, and around him all this time, crows crow and from time to time try to peck out that liver, then the eye, the heart.
There is nothing to defend. Nothing to defend. That's literally with bare hands. At the same time, we still have to defend ourselves from our colleagues in the shop - they are silent or openly supporting the state machine.
Prior to Cyril and the Gogol Center, the police and OMON already managed to "join" the beautiful world of the theater, when a small but terribly dangerous Theater docked. The theater was not broken, it survived and continues to survive, being threatened with closure round the clock. But the Theater Dock. - The theater is independent and openly political.. Gogol Center, in contrast to the dock, is a state cultural institution. Neither the theater nor Cyril has anything to do with politics. The only "political" performance in the repertoire was staged in 2011 - it's "Fools" for "Sanka" Prilepin. Since then, Prilepin has not rebelled against the authorities, but even on the contrary - he makes a successful career on state ideological (and not only) fronts. Now he came to "crush the crap" - to save Russian culture from the liberals who joined her. Kirill Serebrennikov is the front man of "liberal culture", this is why he irritates and enrages the new Russian imperialists. Enrages that he puts plays and films freely, as if there is not around Putin, the Patriarch, the Kremlin administration, or Prilepin and Boyakov.
Enrages that his performances, to which the youth are bursting, preach freedom of thought, fearlessness, respect for the individual, the value of human life, love. And all this - oh horror! - on public money!.
I do not know what budgets there do not allow the corrupted fighters who ordered the Gogol Center to sleep peacefully.
I think that the budget of all Russian state theaters did not stand side by side with Rosneft's budgets. So we will not pretend that in the Serebrennikov apartment or in the offices of the Gogol Center they hide the plundered socialist property. Not there you are looking for!.
But the fact that the decision on the theater is accepted - there is no doubt.
