German photographer Frank Herfort created a selection of amazing photographs demonstrating the surreal timelessness in Russia.

Heforth himself claims that since childhood he was interested in the Soviet Union and dreamed of visiting there, writes Ridus.

"But I was late, and the country I came to was already called Russia. However, some parts of the country - in fact many - seem to be stuck in the timelessness, it seems that the Soviet era still reigns, and nothing has changed since then. I'm talking about tiny villages in remote areas, where there is always a feeling that time has stopped, "Herforte shares her impressions.

Now the German photographer lives on two countries: Russia and Germany. Cooperates with The New York Times, AD, Esquire, Stern, Spiegel, Harper's Bazaar, GEO Germany, Observer, GQ Russia, Wall Street Journal and other well-known media.

For his work Frank has repeatedly been awarded prestigious international awards. Based on his photos from Russia, Herfort created a photo project "Time In Between - Fairy Tale Of Russia", which can be translated as "Timeless - a fairy tale about Russia".

"Western Europe - all neat and unambiguous. Russia is full of mysteries, weirdness, absurdity, multilayeredness, this country is like a forgotten fairy-tale land. I try to find beauty and magic in everything. I'm not interested in showing poverty or wealth, good or bad.

I just show the world how I see it. In the Russian realities, this world is always ambiguous, full of secrets and surrealism, "says Herfort.
