In the self-proclaimed republic noted that Kiev's decision will negatively affect food security. "The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources" of the self-proclaimed Transdniestrian region Yefimiy Koval said that the State Service of Ukraine on food safety and consumer protection banned the transit of goods to Transnistria through the territory of Ukraine, the press service of the republic. It is noted that the document of the Ukrainian side states that from May 20, the passage of controlled cargo in transit through Ukraine, which is sent to Transdniestria, will be carried out only upon agreement with the National Agency for Food Safety of the Republic of Moldova. Previous agreements on transit through the territory of Ukraine in the Transnistrian direction have been declared invalid.

Koval added that "for 2017 83 applications for 293 cars were submitted and more than six thousand tons of cargo were transported to Transdniestria, which are delivered to the republic through the Ukrainian port from 29 countries of the world". He also noted that "the decision of Ukraine will negatively affect the food supply of the republic". Earlier it was reported that the Transnistrian authorities approved the Russian flag as the second national. In Transdniestria they refused from special status.
