Canadian Foreign Minister Hristia Freeland said that the government is ready to support the bill on sanctions against Russian citizens for violating human rights.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

In particular, the Canadian Parliament approved the idea of ??a bill similar to the "Magnitsky Act" in the United States.

"The government supports the expansion of the framework that will allow the introduction of sanctions in cases involving violations of human rights and corruption abroad," said Freeland.

The document will allow Canada to confiscate assets and property of foreign citizens who may be implicated in the relevant violations.

As reported by the "Observer", German Chancellor Angela Merkel previously described under what conditions the European Union can lift sanctions from the Russian Federation.
