Scientists have discovered a place that can be called the garbage capital of the planet. This is reported by BBC News with reference to a study of British and Australian scientists. On the island of Henderson, part of the British overseas territory of the island of Pitcairn (Pacific Ocean), there are approximately 37.7 million garbage - plastic, toothbrushes, lighters, razors, fishing tackle. As pointed out by scientists, Henderson is located in the center of the ocean current, and it is rubbed with the passing ships and from South America. According to experts, there are 17 tons of garbage on the island - 671 items per square meter of its area.

"Crabs settle in bottle caps, in containers and jugs. At first it seems sweet, but it's not at all so. The plastic is old, sharp, brittle and toxic, "said Professor Jennifer Laverz of the University of Tasmania. UNESCO brought Henderson Island to the list of coral atolls with unique ecology. According to Lavers, almost every island in the world and every kind of fauna in the ocean to some extent suffers from the debris that mankind produces.
