The World Hockey Championship in 2017 bypassed the attendance of matches a similar tournament, held in 2016 in Russia. This is reported by "R-Sport". During the nine days of the competition, held in Cologne and Paris, 42 matches took place, for which a total of 431 thousand spectators. At the same time, the average attendance of matches in the German city is higher than those held in the French capital - 13,422 against 7094. In 2016, all the meetings of the World Championships in Moscow and St. Petersburg were visited by 417,414 people. The record of attendance was set in 2015 in the Czech Republic. Then the games in Prague and Ostrava collected 741 690 spectators.

The tournament is held from 5 to 21 May. The Russian national team performs in Group A. In five games, the wards of Oleg Znarka won five wins (one of them - in overtime) and with 14 points lead in the standings. Domestic hockey players secured their participation in the playoffs of the competitions. In group B the first place is occupied by Canadians. The team has 13 points.
