In 2016, all the meetings of the World Championships in Moscow and St. Petersburg were visited by 417,414 people. The record of attendance was set in 2015 in the Czech Republic. Then the games in Prague and Ostrava collected 741 690 spectators.

The tournament is held from 5 to 21 May. The Russian national team performs in Group A. In five games, the wards of Oleg Znarka won five wins (one of them - in overtime) and with 14 points lead in the standings. Domestic hockey players secured their participation in the playoffs of the competitions. In group B the first place is occupied by Canadians. The team has 13 points.
