The House of Representatives of the US Congress passed a draft law on sanctions against the DPRK, according to which the US government will be instructed to monitor several Russian ports in the Far East.
Particular attention is being paid to reconnaissance to large ports in Iran, China and Syria. In the Russian Federation, the "ports of Nakhodka, Vanino and Vladivostok" are in high demand, says section 205 of the bill, which will now be submitted to the Senate.
The bill prohibits vessels belonging to the DPRK or countries that do not comply with UN resolutions on it, to moor at American ports and conduct activities in American waters. Goods produced through forced labor in the DPRK are prohibited from being imported into the United States.
"The bill gives the administration a powerful tool in order to block North Korea's financing by catching those who are doing business with the North Korean regime," said the chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee, Ed Royce.
According to the bill, the use of slave labor exported by the DPRK to other countries is punishable by sanctions in accordance with the law on economic powers in case of emergency international situations.
According to Royce, companies from a number of countries, from Senegal to Qatar and Angola, import North Korean workers who transfer their salaries to Pyongyang, annually bringing billions of dollars in hard currency to the regime.
