In the evening on Wednesday, May 3, in France, there was a pre-election debate between Emmanuel Macron and Marin Le Pen, who will meet in the second round of presidential elections on the next Sunday.

The debate was supposed to focus on issues of economy and job creation, but most of the time the candidates devoted political statements, Radio Liberty reports..

In particular, Le Pen accused Macron of the absence of a plan for the security policy and accused him of "he received an indulgence from Islamist fundamentalism".

Macron, in turn, called "a fake" the promise of Le Pen to cover the borders, accused her of lying. According to the politician, the victory of Le Pen in the elections would lead to a "civil war". Macron also pointed to the leader of the "National Front" with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
