The leaders of the EU countries unanimously approved the terms of negotiations with the UK, which is preparing to leave the union. The "hard" Brexit, followed by British Prime Minister Theresa May, was followed by an equally tough European response. As a result, the withdrawal of London from the united Europe turned out to be a big question.

This opinion was expressed by journalist Vitaly Portnikov in a blog on the site "Glavred".

"The EU countries will require London to secure the rights of Europeans who live on the" departing "island and fulfill financial obligations to the EU - and this is from 40 to 60 billion euros. Only after agreeing all these conditions, the EU will begin negotiations with the UK on new trade relations. But if these negotiations continue after 2019 - the date of the possible withdrawal of the UK from the EU - all this time the country will have to be in the legal space of the European Union and obey the decisions of the European Court, "- writes the journalist.

According to him, the British prime minister had to admit with regret that negotiations with Europeans could end without signing any trade agreement. Moreover, May does not have an answer to the question of how the British economy will function in the event that there is no agreement.

Portnikov said that Brussels will talk with the British hard and uncompromisingly to prevent the "domino effect" and dislodge the trump cards from the hands of populists such as the Frenchwoman Marin Le Pen and the Dutchman Gert Wilders, advocating for withdrawal from the EU.
