Against the backdrop of statements by US President Donald Trump about the need to strengthen NATO in countering terrorism, the Alliance is considering the possibility of creating a coordinator for antiterrorist operations.
It is noted that none of the NATO member states opposed this proposal, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Earlier, the Atlantic Council wrote that the main problem of NATO is not defense budgets, but Russia. When US President Donald Trump visits the NATO summit in Brussels on May 25, he should not endlessly kick Europeans for their defense spending. Instead, he must direct the attention of the Allies to the need to oppose Russia's nuclear blackmail, as well as its advantages in conventional weapons.
