In St. Petersburg, police detained 18 participants in the May Day demonstration that staged a performance in defense of the LGBT community in Chechnya, human rights activist Dinar Idrisov said.. Detentions took place in a rigid form.

7 people were taken to the 28 police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Central District, 11 people were taken to the 43 police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Petrograd district. One of the activists who were brought to the police needed medical assistance, she was taken to the medical institution on an ambulance.

The police make reports on the detainees in respect of part five of Article 20. 2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses - violation by a participant of a public event of the rules of its conduct. The maximum penalty for such an offense is a fine of 20,000 rubles or compulsory work for up to 40 hours.
