In the Jalalabad region, April 30 was a day of national mourning. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of the state Almazbek Atambayev. On the whole territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and on the buildings of diplomatic and consular missions abroad, the national flags of the country were lowered. Canceled all entertainment programs on television and entertainment events. More than 20 people became victims of the disaster. Element - it is the element, but the victims, as it turned out, could be avoided.

Last winter in Kyrgyzstan, not just a lot of snow fell, the norm was exceeded three times. In the course of melting such an amount of snow, river floods, flooding, massive landslides began. The first landslide occurred on April 23 in Bazar-Korgon district, he covered eight men who were engaged in repair of the water supply system. One died on the spot, another one later on the way to the hospital. For the life of two more men had to fight doctors, their condition was assessed as difficult.

The next landslide occurred in the village of Ayuu in the Uzgen district of the Osh region. April 29, 1 million cubic meters of soil covered 11 residential buildings. I must say that 4 houses were empty. The country's leadership, assessing the situation, recommended in March that the residents leave a potentially dangerous place and allocated money. Since 2003, funds have been allocated to relocate people from hazardous areas, loans. People have been warned repeatedly, but to this day more than 800 families live in landslide-prone areas. However, only four families heeded the warning and moved. The rest did not dare to leave their habitable houses. And pastures for cattle from here were located very close, which was convenient. At 7 am local time, a huge mass of rocks and soil rushed to the village. Realizing that there is practically no chance to survive under such a blockage, ignoring the risk of a repeated landslide in the same place, 33 officers of the Ministry of Emergencies disassembled the rubble. Alas, the miracle did not happen - 24 people died. Nine of them are schoolchildren.

The President of the country called on people who have not yet left the landslide zones, to learn a lesson from the tragedy and think about the children.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the head of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev in connection with the death of people during the descent of the landslide: "The head of the Russian state stressed that Russia shares the pain and sorrow of those who lost their loved ones as a result of this disaster and hope for a speedy recovery All affected ".
