In Brazil, massive strikes of workers took place, which became the largest in two decades, BBC reports..

Millions of employees, including public transport staff, bankers and teachers, participated in the work of trade unions and social groups. Protesters oppose the pension reforms proposed by the president.

Throughout the country there are demonstrations, and the organizers say that they will focus on blocking the activities of megacities, rather than small towns and villages.

Participants oppose the revision of the government's pension plan, which will be voted in Congress next week and which can set a minimum retirement age of 65 for men and 62 for women.

Brazil is going through a corruption scandal involving many major politicians, fueling further public discontent.
