Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe formally expressed a lack of confidence in the president of the organization Pedro Agramuntu. Now he can not make official visits, attend meetings or make statements on behalf of the organization, according to the PACE website.

Representatives of the bureau noted that Agramunt did not attend the meeting without specifying the reasons, therefore, mistrust was announced in absentia. Also in PACE noted that "the standards and principles of the Parliamentary Assembly are more important than the interests of the individual".

Earlier it was reported that the deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe formally called the head of the PACE Pedro Agramunt to resign for his trip to Syria with the deputies of the Russian State Duma. Appeals to leave Agramunt from the PACE administration were expressed by the heads of the Socialist and the EPP factions.

Earlier, the delegations of Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Denmark in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe condemned the visit of PACE President Pedro Agramunt to Syria together with the Russian delegation. Delegations have written that they are distancing themselves from the visit of the head of PACE.

We remind that a delegation from the Czech Republic, Belgium, Serbia, Italy and Russia arrived in Syria, led by the head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Pedro Agramunt. Parliamentary delegation announced its desire to resolve the crisis in Syria.
