It seems that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov misses the times of the Cold War. The Russian diplomat laments the loss of peace, in which, according to him, everyone knew their place.

"There are rules that prohibit the invasion of neighboring countries, prohibit the annexation of their territory and kidnap their citizens. There are rules that do not allow to shoot down civilian aircraft, launder money and arrange cyber attacks. The fact is that Russia continues to violate these rules, "reads the article.

Whitmore adds that Lavrov is also mistaken when he speaks of the existence of two stable blocks during the Cold War. The result of that so-called "stability" was Russia's dominance over Ukrainians, Georgians, Moldovans, Estonians, Lithuanians, Latvians and other peoples who were deprived of their own sovereignty. And today, when all these peoples choose rapprochement with the institutions of the West, they do not "overstep the bounds of what is permissible", but make a sovereign choice.

"Let's call a shovel a shovel. This is not about the good old times of stability in the Cold War, according to which Lavrov and the regime he serves, yearn for. It's about the good old days of the Soviet empire, "- says the observer.

Earlier it was reported that Lavrov considers "Western" accusations against Russia for the war in Ukraine "unfair".

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that there is no alleged Russian fault in modern conflicts. Instead, he blamed the United States and the West for the emergence of terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State, Al-Qaida and Jebhat An Nusra, adding that it was the Western allies that "destroyed" Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq. This he justified the role of Russia in the wars in Ukraine and Syria, adding that the West can not accuse her of anything.
