Russian hackers for two years had the opportunity to use the security flaws in the e-mail of the Danish Ministry of Defense. The attacks may be under the control of the Russian authorities hacker group Fancy Bear (Fashion Bear) - it is also accused of hacking the servers of the Democratic Party during the election campaign in the United States. This is stated in the report of the Danish special services, which on Sunday, April 23, quoted the oldest Danish newspaper Berlingske, writes DW.

E-mail cracking occurred in 2015 and 2016.

"This is exactly controlled. These are not small hacker groups, making hacking for the sake of entertainment. This is due to intelligence or the central elements of the Russian regime, "said Denmark's Defense Minister Klaus Jort Frederiksen.

"Information extracted from mailboxes can serve the purposes of recruitment, blackmail or further intelligence activities," the report says.. It also notes that security flaws have already been eliminated.

Earlier it was reported that in Spanish Barcelona local law enforcement officers detained a 36-year-old native of St. Petersburg, Petr Levashov. The Russian programmer in the US is suspected of hacking attacks, including those committed during the 2016 election campaign.

Recall, in March of this year, the US Department of Justice accused four people of creating large online security breaches that led to the hacking of hundreds of millions of Yahoo resource mailboxes. At the same time one of the suspects was detained in Canada, three more are in Russia.

FBI director James Komi also reported that the servers of the National Committee of the Republican Party of the United States were attacked by hackers associated with Russian special services.
