Protests against the results of the first round of the presidential elections began in Paris

After the closure of polling stations and the announcement of results of exit polls in the evening on Sunday, April 23, protests began in Paris against the results of the first round of the presidential elections in France.

Gradually, the peaceful protest grew into clashes with the police of representatives of the left and anti-fascist groups, who expressed indignation at the release of a candidate from the right-populist party "National Front".

The police blocked the passages to the streets adjacent to Bastille Square. During the collision, at least one person was injured.

According to the results of the exit poll, independent candidate, leader of the liberal movement "Forward!" Emmanuel Macron and head of the right-populist party "National Front" Marin Le Pen came to the second round of the presidential elections in France. In the first round for Macron voted 23.7%, and Le Pen was able to enlist the support of 22% of voters.



Candidate from the "Republicans" Francois Fillon and the left populist Jean-Luc Melanchon received 19.5% of the vote. Socialist Benois Amon was supported by 6.5% of voters.

On the eve of the first round of vibors, the rating of the main candidates for the presidency of France was at the level of 20%.
