On April 22, the International Mother Earth Day is celebrated all over the world.

The celebration of the memorable date was proclaimed by a special resolution of the UN General Assembly on April 22, 2009 and is held as an international event aimed at uniting people of the planet in the protection of the environment.

For the first time Mother Earth Day was celebrated in the United States of America in 1970 with the support of the organization Earth Day Network.

The goal of the organization is to popularize and diversify the ecological movement around the world, which should be the most effective tool for creating a healthy and sustainable environment, addressing the challenges of climate change and preserving the planet for future generations. By the 50th anniversary of the celebration of the Day (and this will happen in 2020), and also within the theme of this year, the Earth Day Network plans to plant 7.8 billion trees for five years.

Earth Day is celebrated twice a year: in March (near the spring equinox) and on April 22. The actions that take place during the Earth Day are aimed at encouraging people to be more attentive to the environment on the planet.
