Warsaw did not like the comments of the American political scientist and former adviser to the US President Zbigniew Brzezinski that Ukraine will not be able to return the Crimea in the near future. And completely regain control over the peninsula, which allegedly "was never Ukrainian," Kiev will never succeed at all.
This, according to Gazeta Wyborcza, says in an article that appeared on the website of the Polish Embassy in the United States. It was written by a member of the program board of the party "Law and Justice", a member of the People's Development Council under the President of Poland, as well as a member of the political cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Przemyslaw Zhuravsky Vel Gaevsky.
These are very menacing and painful words, and from the mouth of a respected analyst they are shameful, "said the Polish politician.
He also criticized Brzezinski's words that the Poles should be "proud", ex-prime minister and chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk. And the fact that Warsaw did not support his candidacy for a high position in the EU - this, according to Brzezinski, was "shameful". Zhuravsky Vel Gaevsky disagreed with this statement, noting that the United States would hardly be pleased if the League of Nations in 1926 elected its American leader without Washington's consent.
Recall that March 16, the United States once again called on Russia to end the occupation of the Crimea.
The Department stressed that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine, and the "Crimean" package of sanctions will operate until the restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty over the peninsula.
Earlier, the International Criminal Court in The Hague equated the annexation of Crimea to the international armed conflict. As noted in the report, the establishment of the fact of the initial intervention, which entailed the occupation, is not required. Thus, this international conflict can be investigated according to the norms of the Rome Statute.
