European Commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighborliness Johannes Khan believes that the relations between Turkey and the European Union have approached the "point of no return". According to Khan, the crisis of confidence on both sides does not allow us to return to the previous level of cooperation, the European Commission website.
The official noted the considerable regression of Turkey on many issues in recent years, which began to manifest before the coup attempt last summer. The culmination of this regress, according to Khan, is the adoption of the results of the referendum on a new constitution.
Recall, on April 16 in Turkey held a referendum on constitutional reform. According to the state news agency Anadolu, its supporters with a minimal margin (51.4% versus 48.6%) won. The opposition declared numerous violations during the voting and about the intention to appeal its results in court.
The initiators of the reform propose the introduction of 18 amendments to the basic law, which should significantly expand the powers of the president.
Earlier it was reported that the OSCE believe that the election campaign was distorted in favor of voting "for". The decision of the Electoral Commission of Turkey allows valid ballots without special seals to be valid and created an opportunity for fraud in a referendum on constitutional reform.
