The last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, warns that the Cold War may resume.

However, according to The Times, it was already unleashed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, writes ZIK.

The media explains that it provides for an American confrontation against Russia for its aggressive and defiant behavior, as well as parallel work on establishing ties with China on the basis of common interests.

It is possible to draw a parallel between this approach and US policy in the early 1970s.

"Critics may call this the resumption of the Cold War, but, as the US and its allies believed from the end of World War II and until the collapse of the USSR in 1991, this may prove to be the best way to preserve peace and security," reads the article.

Gorbachev is right when he expresses concern over the bad US-Russian relations. But the blame for this regime of Vladimir Putin and his deceitful, expansionist behavior. And also his campaign against dissenters, whom he decided to kill even in the territory of other countries, as happened with Alexander Litvinenko in London in 2006.

His aggression against Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea Putin violated the borders in Europe by brute force. In the Middle East, the Kremlin backed its "client" - Syrian President Bashar Assad - and helped him destroy civilians by brutal methods, such as the use of chemical weapons.

The publication is reminiscent of Russian propaganda and interference in the elections in the US, which may happen again in France in order to bring the radical leader Marin Le Pen to power. Russia violates international norms. And the only responsible choice for Zapal is to do the same as he did with the USSR in the post-war years. The Alliance of World War II collapsed because of conclusive evidence of Stalin's intentions: the coup in Czechoslovakia in 1948, the Berlin blockade in 1949 and the constant espionage to steal American nuclear developments were convincing. The only scenario for the US that understood that their security depends on the freedom of Western Europe was to begin to resist communism and send military forces to deterrence.

"The New Cold War was proclaimed by Putin. The US will have to join it.

Meanwhile, Trump unexpectedly reduced his hostile rhetoric towards Beijing, abandoned the habit of calling China a "currency manipulator" and clearly recognized the need to cooperate on security in the region, "reads the article.

According to the publication, this is the right course. China remains an autocracy with a disappointing baggage of human rights violations. But his interests on critical issues coincide with the interests of the West.

As reported by the "Observer", Portnikov explained why Putin influenced the elections in the United States.
