Japan may first deploy its self-defense forces in response to military provocations by North Korea. The reason for such a step on the part of Japan could be the North Korean missile's entry into the territorial waters of the country, according to the International Business Times, referring to the Japanese media.

According to the law on the self-defense forces of Japan adopted in 2016, the deployment of such forces is possible only in case of aggression against Japan or the threat of aggression.

Japan's self-defense forces are analogous to the armed forces, which the country refused after World War II.
