The London terrorist Khalid Masud acted independently, his motives for the police are unknown, reports The Guardian referring to British law enforcers.

According to the police, the attack on the Westminster Bridge and the parliament building in London, during which the terrorist killed four people before he was shot, lasted only 82 seconds.

Four days later, the London police did not manage to establish the motives of the man who raided the people and wounded the police terrorist.

"We believe that Masoud acted alone, and there is no information to suggest a planned attack. We must clearly identify the causes of these abominable actions to provide answers to questions from all Londoners, the families of the dead and survivors of the terrorist attack, "said the second assistant to the Commissioner of the London Police Neil Basa.

Nevertheless, Basa did not rule out that it would not be possible to establish the true motives of the attacker.

The cause of the attack could be the recruitment of Masud into the ranks of the terrorist organization "Islamic State", which earlier stated that he was their "soldier", and other reasons.

"We must all recognize the likelihood that we will never understand why he did it. Understanding this may have died with him, "the Assistant Commissioner.

After Masud's attack, law enforcement officers detained 11 people, nine of them were later released. At the same time, a 58-year-old detainee from Birmingham remained under arrest, while a 32-year-old woman from Manchester was released on bail.
