Former head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU Andrei Naumov, who went abroad the day before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, purchased 3 apartments in an elite residential complex in Turkey for an amount of about 17.5 million hryvnia. This is stated in the investigation of the Schemes project.

Journalists came across extracts from the Turkish real estate register, according to which Naumov bought 3 apartments in the premium residential complex Konak Seaside Premium in the Kargicak district of Alanya municipality in Turkey in 2022. On real estate websites, apartments in this residential complex are offered at prices ranging from 340 to 460 thousand euros.

According to data from the registers, Andrei Naumov purchased three residential premises in the resort area for almost 8.5 million Turkish liras, which is approximately equal to 17.5 million hryvnia. The area of \u200b\u200bthe largest of them is 185 square meters.

According to journalist sources close to Naumov’s social circle, his family now lives in the apartments. The ex-general himself is awaiting a court decision in Serbia, where his case is being considered on charges of money laundering. Naumov denies the accusations and claims that he is being persecuted “for political reasons” and “the verdict of the Serbian court was orchestrated entirely from Ukraine.”.

Naumov himself, in a comment to reporters, said that as part of criminal proceedings, Serbian investigators made inquiries to Turkey and, after a thorough check of transactions and the origin of money, did not find any violations of the law. However, he did not answer the question about the sources of funds..

If he is sentenced to deportation from the country, it is possible that he may go to Turkey.

“The court can only make a decision on a ban on staying on the territory of Serbia, so deciding where to move next is a responsibility assigned exclusively to me,” Naumov answered the question about his future place of stay.

The former SBU official did not specify which country he was considering..

The State Bureau of Investigation responded to a request from journalists that they were checking the facts about Naumov’s purchase of Turkish apartments as part of one of the criminal proceedings opened against him.

Andrey Naumov worked for 12 years in the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine before taking the position of head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Management of the Exclusion Zone, and then head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU.

A few hours before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Naumov fled Ukraine, taking with him cash, which he took out in several minibuses. He lived in Germany for several months, then moved to Serbia. In June, while trying to transport a large amount of money and jewelry through a checkpoint, Naumov was detained at the border in Serbia.

In August 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation, at the request of journalists, reported that Naumov was suspected of helping the invaders seize the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant by giving them confidential information.

In October 2022, Ukraine approached Serbia regarding the extradition of Naumov, who was arrested on charges of money laundering, but was refused.

In September 2023, a Serbian court sentenced former SBU general Andrei Naumov to one year in prison. In early January 2024, it became known that the official left the Serbian prison while an appeal against his sentence was being considered in one of the Serbian courts.

In March 2024, the High Court in Nis re-started the hearing of the case of ex-SBU General Naumov. The former official pleaded not guilty.
