During the period of martial law, the military and law enforcement officers will have to hand over their DNA data. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Bondarenko today on the air of the All-Ukrainian telethon. The innovation is connected with the adoption of the law on state registration of human genomic information.
“Regarding mandatory registration, there is such a rule that DNA samples are taken from military personnel and law enforcement officers for the period of martial law.. That is, representatives of professions, among which we have the greatest losses due to the aggression of the Russian Federation, ”said Igor Bondarenko.
He explained that the data of military personnel are not entered immediately into the DNA registry.. They are kept in the personal files of the fighters and are taken only when it is necessary to conduct an examination..
“Given the losses that we have today, it is necessary to identify all our dead as a result of armed aggression.
This applies to both the military and also civilians who will fall under shelling, as, for example, in the city of Chasov Yar,” said the Deputy Minister.
With the adoption of the law on the state registration of human genomic information, there are two types of such registration - mandatory and voluntary.. Relatively mandatory, as, for example, for the military and law enforcement officers - it is carried out at the expense of the state. And the voluntary one, which can be passed by all interested citizens of Ukraine and foreigners, is a paid one..
