Switzerland may start providing consular services to Russia and Ukraine. This was stated by Swiss President Ignazio Cassis (quoted by the Russian state agency RIA Novosti).

According to Cassis, Ukraine asked Switzerland for such a service - to provide consular assistance to its citizens who now live in Russia.. And now, he says, relevant negotiations are underway with Moscow..

In the same way - in the absence of diplomatic relations after the 2008 war - Switzerland helps Georgian citizens in Russia and Russians in Georgia. The Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi has a department of Russian interests, and the embassy in Moscow has a department of Georgian interests.
