Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon, known for his pro-Russian stance and support for dictator Putin, now faces up to 20 years in prison. The day before, Dodon was detained and sent to a pre-trial detention center.

The accusation against Dodon was commented to the Russian media by a lawyer, a former member of parliament Valery Nagachevsky.

“Given that Dodon is suspected of violating four articles of the Criminal Code of Moldova, then it is necessary to determine which of them provides for the most severe punishment - this is treason.

If an investigation is carried out, he will be charged under this article, the case will be taken to court and the court will agree with the arguments of the prosecutor, then Dodon faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years,"

According to the Moldovan media, the anti-corruption prosecutor's office of the republic asks the court to arrest Dodon and his son-in-law for 30 days.
